Hello all, I saw that the new Steinberg notation product, being developed by the “sacked” Sibelius developers, has now arrived at the name and announcement stage. It has been demonstrated, and is promised for release by the end of this year. They are suggesting that they will have a decent (temporary) cross-grade price for Finale/Sibelius users, but they aren’t taking orders yet.
They are calling it Dorico, after Valerio Dorico, a 16th century Roman music printer who, like Petrucci, lacked specialist knowledge, so “likely relied on a network of contacts and technical expertise of an editor” (Susan Hammond, “Editing Music in Early Modern Germany”). The name, perhaps, refers to Steinberg relying on the former Sibelius team? Sounds to me too much like Dorito. Kind of cheesy… In any case, here is the link. I’d be curious to get impressions from our local power users. https://www.steinberg.net/en/products/dorico.html David Froom _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
