Yes, used to have occasional trouble, but it also worked a lot of the time.  
Haven’t used it lately, so I don’t know if it’s been updated.

I have a thumb wheel on my Logitech mouse that I use for horizontal scrolling, 
but it is hard to control, so I will check on Smartscroll again.  It had’t 
occurred to me to use mouse clicks in Keyboard Maestro (the app I now use for 
macros).
