A friend recently asked me what I know about the technology Xenakis developed and used, and I realized I knew almost nothing. I did some digging about Stochos and UPIC. It seems Stochos lives on as a Max/MSP patch and perhaps also an AST plugin. UPIC has descendants called Iannix and HighC.
My question for the list is, does anyone know of a system that transcribes output from these systems as notation files? MusicXML for example?
