Greetings, I don't actually want to use X11/Gnome on my desktop, as I much prefer Aqua, but I am interested in how exactly it works under OS X. I assume various settings files need to be modified to have it boot into console mode or into X on startup in order to use it?
Also, if I want to use the GIMP, XMMS or any of the other GUI-based apps that are available via fink, do I have to be running X11 or will they run under Aqua? TIA.
