Yes, I tried this already. It doesn't work for me.

Well I simply downloaded XFree86 and installed it. It installed XDarwin 1.1. Then I 
downloaded the OroborOSX 0.8p2 package and installed that too. I didn't use fink to 
install them. My test program is Abiword 1.0.1 which I also downloaded and installed 
without fink. 

No ~/.xinitrc file is present, however there is a ~/.orobxinitrc file. 

On my TiBook, I installed XDarwin via fink and there also was no .xinitrc file.
