Thanks for the reply. The first news item regarding the release of Fink KDE
packages included instructions that specifically mentioned that
system-xfree86 had to be replaced with xfree86-base, although I don't see
any mention of that in the current instructions, as you point out. But I
started my installation attempts with the first release, so I believed that
system-xfree had to be removed. If it didn't, then I can try again with my
Aqua version of the xfree 4.2 installer. Or if you can tell me how, I can
try that anyway, then try replacing system-xfree86 with xfree86-base in a
more successful way than I did before.
