I notice your version of nedit is 5.2RC1, yet in stable it is just version 5.2, 5.2RC1 is an old version.

What version of the nedit.info is sitting in /sw/fink/dists/stable/main/finkinfo/editors????

The most likely cause for this is a corrupted or incomplete download.

Then I retry but the result is the same. I got exactly the same error
yesterday. No problem in updating other packages though. Also, I did a
fink selfupdate-cvs just before updating the packages.
