Hi,

there seems to be something odd in my fink directory.
Following Matt's suggestion to find out what was the problem in updating
nedit I checked the finkinfo directories. First of all in /sw I have the
fink directory and a fink.old directory. Is this normal? Can I get rid of
fink.old?
Moreover in the various subdirectories of
/sw/fink/dists/stable/main/finkinfo
I have two .info files for many packages, the most recent one owned by me
and an older one owned by root. For instance here is a bit of my directory
including nedit (which is indeed one of the packages with double .info
file):

-rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 954 Jan 15 21:59 joe-2.8-2.info
-rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 2765 Jan 15 21:59 joe-2.8-2.patch
-rw-r--r-- 1 stefanok admin 1189 Jun 9 14:24 joe-2.8-3.info
-rw-r--r-- 1 stefanok admin 2765 Apr 10 22:42 joe-2.8-3.patch
-rw-r--r-- 1 stefanok admin 1576 May 16 18:37 lyx-1.1.6fix3-3.info
-rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 773 Jan 15 21:59 nano-1.0.6-1.info
-rw-r--r-- 1 stefanok admin 851 May 28 13:39 nano-1.0.7-2.info
-rw-r--r-- 1 stefanok admin 908 Jun 9 14:24 nedit-5.2-2.info
-rw-r--r-- 1 stefanok admin 6456 Feb 24 12:02 nedit-5.2-2.patch
-rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 736 Jan 15 21:59 nedit-5.2RC1-2.info
-rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 6434 Jan 15 21:59 nedit-5.2RC1-2.patch

Isn't fink supposed to overwrite older files when doing a selfupdate?
Could someone explain to me what the problem is and how to fix it?

Many thanks in advance.
Cheers,

Stefano
