Hi Stan, I had this problem a couple of days ago. Downgrading imlib to the stable version fixed it. Then new versions of all the affected gnome parts were released, but for some reason, the problem is back for me again, too. I can't try downgrading imlib now to see if that fixes it because I'm doing a mega-update of KDE stuff.

BTW, you can close the windows by left-clicking on them in the panel and selecting "kill app", although there's probably a more polite way, by sending the appropriate kill signal.

I posted to the fink-users list, but perhaps the question was too basic- no one responded. I'm running Apple's X11 and updating from cvs- see below:

Package manager version: 0.11.2
Distribution version: 0.5.1.cvs
Mac OS X version: 10.2.3
December 2002 Developer Tools
gcc version: 3.1
make version: 3.79
(Updates done through the terminal using fink update-all)

Since the most recent round of updates, windows created by Gnome applications are anchored to the upper left-hand corner (0,0) of the screen. Furthermore, the ability to resize windows has disappeared. I realize that by using unstable versions of the software I'm always running a risk that things won't work, but I was wondering if someone might have a suggestion as to what might be causing the problem.

I was hoping I wasn't the only one experiencing it, but I haven't seen any other messages on either list (fink-users or fink-beginners) describing the problem.

Also, is it expected that when I log out of Gnome and then quit X11, zombie processes should be reported (Name:X11, User: root, Status: Zombie) by the Process Viewer?

The last entry in the Console is:
