I just did a fetch on emacs21 from my local mirror: ftp://aeneas.mit.edu/pub/gnu/emacs/emacs-21.3.tar.gz

I tried just installing emacs using 'fink install emacs20' - no luck there so also tried emacs21 - and from several different mirrors. No success with that either - every time it got to 99 or 100% and hung. I installed a few other things and these downloaded and compiled fine ... so I really can't work out what's wrong. It seems like something specific to both versions of emacs on several mirrors. I've searched the beginners and users list archives but couldn't find anything there.
