Argh... rant warning.
Now I believe I've -really- tried, combed through the beginners and
general archive, no luck. I'm running 10.3, quite a clean install, and
just wish to install some stuff like ImageMagick, which seem to be
inheritly dependant on X11. Ok, try to install X11 then.
Already, I thought I had Apple's X11 installed, but I found out I needed SDK too, so I downloaded that from apple, but imagine my surprise when it refused to install!
Since then, I've done some rm -rf, reinstalled X11-user and tried several times to reinstall SDK from scratch, but it will keep on protesting against that it's already installed to my disk, while fink says it isn't.
What to do? I gather I want to do a clean install of Apple X11 (SDK), but how do I rip it out properly in order to do that?
Sorry, seems it solved when I installed from the XCode CD. But a
clarification would be welcome, this wasn't identical to the SDK
downloadable from apple web? Also, how to rip out/properly handle apple
packages would be interesting to know, in order to perhaps be able to
handle future conflicts like this.
Who told you to download the SDK? If it's on the FAQ or documentation, let me know so I can fix it.
Otherwise, check the FAQ first. I put in the intructions to install the X11 SDK off of the Xcode disk several days BEFORE the Panther release because this was, and still is, such a frequently asked question.
