I am running OS X 10.2.8 on a G5 and I have been trying to install a package which requires X11 but I get the error message
%>fink install arb sudo /sw/bin/fink install arb Password: could not determine XFree86 version number Information about 2343 packages read in 1 seconds. fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual dependency. The candidates: (1) xfree86-base-threaded: XFree86 libraries, utilities, clients and data (2) xfree86-base: XFree86 libraries, utilities, clients and data (3) xfree86: XFree86 distribution
I have tried the installation with each of the options and right towards the end I get an error message something like "can't overwrite usr/etc/xfree86" I can't remember what it is exactly but it was along those lines.
I also tried to get fink to determine which xfree86 I have installed and I get the following message similar to the above:
%>fink list xfree86
could not determine XFree86 version number

I had already installed apples X11 beta3 version 4.2.1 downloaded from their website
