What, if any, "system-xfree86" packages show up when you run "fink-virtual-pkgs"?

If you don't have any of them, then you need to reinstall the main X11 package--sometimes a file doesn't show up for some mysterious reason.

Having a devill of a time with this.

Followed directions in link below. Completed. Checked with fink-virtual-pkgs and all x86 components showed up.

Tried again to install bundle-gnome. Failed again, gnome-desktop indicating incorrect version of xfree86-shlibs. Ran update-all. Utlimately fails with:

You have an existing X11 installation in /usr/X11R6/lib.
This package refuses to overwrite these. Remove them, then tell Fink to
install xfree86-shlibs again. (The package won't be recompiled.)

Press Return to continue.

I seem to be in an endless loop on xfree-shlibs. Despite note below and guarantee it was installed when I completed X11 SDK install at described in URL below.

Help! Do it delete and start over again?

let me guess, need to install xfree86?

Have you read Fink FAQ#8.11 http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-packages.php#apple-x11-wants- xfree86

What is somewhat counter-intuitive at first is that you need to *uninstall* packages in order to have the virtual packages show up.
