My suspicion would be that you have some packages that were never set up for prebinding. For example, Fink doesn't provide a postfix package on Panther at all.
I'm checking with FinkCommander right now and I don't see any binary package for any of the packages I have installed. Some examples:
cvs, ethereal, bzip2, cdrdao, dlcompat.
Is there anything wrong with my configuration or am I simply using the "wrong" packages?
It's possible that Fink is looking in the wrong place for binaries if you upgraded from Jaguar. Try running fink: /sw/lib/fink/postinstall.pl in a Terminal window.
Is this OK?
sudo ./postinstall.pl
Password:
Checking system... powerpc-apple-darwin7.4.0
This system was not released at the time this Fink release was made, but
should work.
ln -s 10.3 /sw/fink/dists
You may not have the very latest version of Fink, but as it says, this should work.
Also, (I hope this is the right place) finkCommander, in the menus, still talks about CVS, but I have changed into rsync. Is it just a matter of menus or maybe FinkCommander is not the right tool after changing to rsync?
Do you have Fink Commander 0.5.2? It has "selfupdate-rsync" in its menu.
