You may not have the very latest version of Fink, but as it says, this should work.

$ fink --version Package manager version: 0.20.2 Distribution version: 0.7.0.cvs

Also, (I hope this is the right place) finkCommander, in the menus, still talks about CVS, but I have changed into rsync. Is it just a matter of menus or maybe FinkCommander is not the right tool after changing to rsync?

Do you have Fink Commander 0.5.2? It has "selfupdate-rsync" in its menu.

I have 0.5.3! ;)

I selfupdated with rsync through FinkCommander and I did get a newer version, from 0.17 to 0.20. I would also like to add that (as you can see in the distribution version) I'm using the latest from CVS. Is this why I'm not getting binaries? How do I turn it back into non-CVS?

Also, how do I configure a software that I might compile to be prebound? I'm asking this because if I dedicate sometime to compile something and get prebinding working I would like to contribute to the fink repository.
