Keep in mind, as the list name suggests I'm a beginner. I was looking for a way to install subversion on my Mac and fink looked like a solution. So I went to fink, looked up svn and see that the 'current' version is 1.0.6, exactly what I want.
I installed fink, followed the instructions and installed svn, but I get 1.0.0. 'fink --version' reports that I'm using version 0.7.0, so I start looking for directions on updating to 'current-10.3'. The whole time I'm going through the directions and searching in the mailing lists, I'm look for something that will update my installation to 'current'. Nothing this far has indicated that I should be looking for instructions on using 'unstable' packages, the label on the package I'm looking for said 'current'. Its not like I just ran to the mailing list at the first sign of trouble, I've probably spent a few hours on this over the course of the last week. So, to answer your question about how to improve the documentation or website, try to make it clear what the different distribution packages mean. To those not particularly familiar with your project, 'current' and 'unstable' are not necessarily synonymous. Perhaps re-label 'current-10.3' to 'unstable-10.3', or putting a star with a footnote, or parenthetically stating (Unstable) out to the right of the packages listing. Then someone can give you detailed help. If you couldn't find that FAQ entry, perhaps you could suggest how the web site or other documentation could be improved to make it easier to use.
