Well, the reason I'm trying to selfupdate (see above) is so that I
can install vtk on my G5 OS 10.4.5. The packages page says that
source is available in the unstable distribution for 10.4.x, and fink
finds it fine, but can't successfully compile the source. Just case
this is a totally unrelated problem to selfupdate, here's the error
returned from fink install vtk:
