Hi,

Does anyone have an idea why quartz-wm starts with startkde even if kwin is
used as the window manager (under X11). Not only it starts, but it slowly
takes more and more RAM (up to 200 MB !). I usually simply kill it by hand
(and this does not generate any problem in kde, which proves that it is not
usefull), but I would like to avoid having to do this. My .xinitrc is :

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
#!/bin/sh
# $Id: xinitrc,v 1.3 2004/06/11 04:37:23 jharper Exp $

test -r /sw/bin/init.sh && . /sw/bin/init.sh
userresources=$HOME/.Xresources
usermodmap=$HOME/.Xmodmap
sysresources=/etc/X11/xinit/.Xresources
sysmodmap=/etc/X11/xinit/.Xmodmap

# merge in defaults and keymaps

if [ -f "$sysresources" ]; then
    xrdb -merge "$sysresources"
fi

if [ -f "$sysmodmap" ]; then
    xmodmap "$sysmodmap"
fi

if [ -f "$userresources" ]; then
    xrdb -merge "$userresources"
fi

if [ -f "$usermodmap" ]; then
    xmodmap "$usermodmap"
fi

startkde

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Thanks a lot !!

Alex
