You ran a selfupdate with either rsync or cvs updating after you turned 
on the unstable tree?  If your update method is "point releases" (you 
can check that by looking at /sw/etc/fink.conf) then that would explain 
it.  Or if you're somehow on the 10.4-transitional distribution (which 
you can also check in /sw/etc/fink.conf) that could also account for 
what you're seeing.
