That's a confusing message. It refers to "the error", but since he never 
followed up on it, I think that it is not the

could not determine XFree86 version number

error he refers to, but the

__THE_PROCESS_HAS_FORKED_AND_YOU_CANNOT_USE_THIS_COREFOUNDATION_FUNCTIONALITY___YOU_MUST_EXEC__

error that was mentioned in an earlier branch of that thread. The latter 
is still not completely resolved, AFAIK.
