Does your professor know there is a MacOS X (native) binary available? http://cran.r-project.org/ When you "downloaded R" where did you get it (that is which file do you mean that you downloaded)? The package (r-base) includes the following: > R.app no longer included in the R source distribution. To install, go to > http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/, download and install R-GUI.dmg.
