Jon, I've applied a patch that Xournal's author offered for this bug and am submitting the updated version to the repository. If you'd like to try it, I've attached the update xournal.info and xournal.patch files. Put these in your FINKDIRECTORY/fink/dists/local/ main/finkinfo directory and reinstall xournal. Thanks for pointing out the bug.

Hi, folks,

I'm posting here about a bug I found in the Xournal (unstable)
package. I attempted to post to the linked Bugzilla page from the Fink
homepage, and neither did the project page load, nor could I create a
user account to post there (CGI errors).

It's not bugzilla; it's sourceforge's bug tracker. Not actually under
our control.

I also tried the Fink
sourceforge project page, and could not become a member of the group
to post this bug...

You're better off posting on the lists, anyway. The bug tracker is of
limited utility for us, since people who aren't on our approved list
have limited ability to direct their reports; and if the maintainer
isn't on the list of people where a bug can be assigned, then they go
into limbo.

However, I thought it might be useful information, and decided to
throw myself on the mercy of this group and report it here. My
apologies if I'm messing with the bandwidth!

Bug: when you try to annotate a PDF, no background PDF image (to
annotate) appears. However, when you save the resulting file, it
defaults to a FILENAME.pdf.xoj filename -- apparently it thinks it is
annotating the PDF. In any case, these symptoms correspond exactly to
the bug reported for Xournal over at Arch Linux:

http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12923

In the above page, the Arch Linux folks have posted a patchfile and
new PKGBUILD file that apparently fix the bug. However, building the
file from source without using Fink fails for me, and I can't figure
out how to incorporate the patch (which is invoked by autogen.sh) in
the existing Fink package to try it.

That's my bug report.

Best,
Jon

Thanks to the report. It's probably worth contacting the maintainer of
our package concerning this issue (cc'ed).
