To: alexanderk.han...@gmail.com

Hi,
I have similar if not the same problem. I installed fink and when
I tried fink selfupdate (using both cvs and rsync) and both of them
gave me same error at the end that says
Failed: phase compiling: bzip2-1.0.5-2 failed
I am running a MacOSX 10.5.8 with XQuartz 2.1.6 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple33)....
I have attached the whole error
migeed$ fink selfupdate

If compilation produces errors, or a large number of warnings,
please read README.COMPILATION.PROBLEMS -- you might be able to
adjust the flags in this Makefile to improve matters.

Also in README.COMPILATION.PROBLEMS are some hints that may help
if your build produces an executable which is unable to correctly
handle so-called 'large files' -- files of size 2GB or more.

Before reporting any errors, please run "fink selfupdate" and
try again.  If you continue to have issues, please check to see if the
FAQ on fink's website solves the problem.  If not, ask on the fink-users
or fink-beginners mailing lists, with a carbon copy to the maintainer:

    Fink Core Group <fink-c...@lists.sourceforge.net>

Note that this is preferable to emailing the maintainer directly, since
most fink package maintainers do not have access to all possible
hardware and software configurations.

Thank you
Migun
