Understood. Since "fink index -f" is hiding the exact source of the  
index inconsistency, I figured I'd just poke at it and post the results.

I was referring to the origin of the outdated -2 revision, rather than  
the "10.4 is for 10.5 and 10.6, too" aspect.

Would it be possible to include the latest revision of the libgettext3  
info file included in the next fink tarball?
