I just put an updated mc package into Fink CVS, it should be available now (or 
at most in a couple hours) when doing a "fink selfupdate".

Sorry, but if upstream (that is, the authors of mc) decide their program and 
its features in some way, that is their decision, and I have no intentions of 
undoing or otherwise countermand their changes. I suggest you file a request on 
their tracker if you want this feature to be restored.
