To name just one example, pressing Ctrl-e in mcedit does nothing, contrary to the line End = end; ctrl-e in the [editor] section of mc.keymap.emacs and regardless of how I advise mc to use that keymap. Of course, mc's ignorance might be due to local circumstances on my machine, although there is nothing special that comes to mind. I would appreciate if any existing fink and mc user, preferrably with Snow Leopard, could check by running mc --keymap=/sw/etc/mc/mc.keymap.emacs in Terminal.app or xterm. (That line advises mc to temporarily use its emacs keymap for the current run, only.)
