alas, same with options 1 (command line switch) and 2 (environment variable
MC_KEYMAP) from that manpage.

To name just one example, pressing Ctrl-e in mcedit does nothing, contrary to
the line

End = end; ctrl-e

in the [editor] section of mc.keymap.emacs and regardless of how I advise mc to
use that keymap.

Of course, mc's ignorance might be due to local circumstances on my machine,
although there is nothing special that comes to mind. I would appreciate if any
existing fink and mc user, preferrably with Snow Leopard, could check by running

mc --keymap=/sw/etc/mc/mc.keymap.emacs

in Terminal.app or xterm. (That line advises mc to temporarily use its emacs
keymap for the current run, only.)

In mcedit, mc's internal editor that opens by default when you press F4 at an
arbitrary text file in mc, do Ctrl-a and Ctrl-e then make the cursor jump to
line beginning or end, respectively?

cheers,

Zoo Loo
