Okay, that worked. Fink is now installed, updated, and the environment variable is set. There is one more issue that I'm having. I am trying to use fink to install cvs. I have downloaded cvs-1.11.23, but I am not sure how to tell fink to install it. I tried the "fink install" command several times followed by different targets, each time it tells me that there is no package found for specification.
Tylers-MacBook-Pro-3:src twilliamson2011$ fink install cvs-1.11.23 Information about 4668 packages read in 1 seconds. Failed: no package found for specification 'cvs-1.11.23'! Do I need to move the file to a certain directory, try a different target, or something else?
