Hi, I managed to download the latest Xcode command-line tools (April) and tried again with Xcode app 5.1.1, but still had the same problem as before.
I then tried the Xcode app 5.1 with Xcode command-line tools 5.1(March) and got a similar error message: checking whether /sw/var/lib/fink/path-prefix-libcxx/g++ understands -c and -o together... no checking how to run the C++ preprocessor... /lib/cpp configure: error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check ### execution of ./configure failed, exit code 1 phase compiling: ncurses-5.9-20110507-1 failed Also include the following system information: Package manager version: 0.36.4 Distribution version: selfupdate-point (bootstrap), 10.9, x86_64 Trees: local/main stable/main Xcode.app: 5.1 Xcode command-line tools: 5.1.0.0.1.1396320587 Max. Fink build jobs: 8 ERROR: Bootstrap phase 2 failed! Appreciate any further suggestions! I don't really know why Apple decided to do it this way. The update to the command-line tools showed up under the system's Software Update for me. "xcode-select --install" might work, too.
