I had a working Fink under 10.8, but, found out, trying to do a self update
that upgrading broke¹ that
So, I go and see that I ought to get the Fink 0.36.4 release not a
problem. I unpack it and figure OK, this will be easyI¹ll just bootstrap
it and go
Unfortunately, NO SUCH LUCK
I try the Xcode-select install that failsbut, that¹s a minor issue I
have the full Xcode so I do the Xcode-select switch statement
Now, everything is perfectly fine UNTIL:
/bin/mkdir -p /sw/src/fink.build/root-fink-0.36.4-81/sw
/bin/mkdir -p /sw/src/fink.build/root-fink-0.36.4-81/DEBIAN

Basicly dpkg fails to replace ._. AND, to make matters worse
/sw/bootstrap/bin/dpkg I force-overwrite DOESN¹T work either. Oh it runs
successfully..but although, it seems to say everything is fine it isn¹t .
I tried copying /sw/bootstrap/bin to /sw/bin and self updating which is an
unmitigated disasterOh the rsync works fine, but, ANY package install

### execution of /sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait failed, exit code 1
Can't set build lock for bzip2 (1.0.6-1)
If any of the above dpkg error messages mention conflicting packages or
missing dependencies -- for example,
telling you that the package fink-buildlock-bzip2-1.0.6-1 conflicts with
something else -- fink has probably
gotten confused by trying to build many packages at once. Try building just
this current package bzip2 (i.e,
"fink build bzip2"). When that has completed successfully, you could retry
whatever you did that led to the
present error.
Regardless of the cause of the lock failure, don't worry: you have not
wasted compiling time! Packages that had
been completely built before this error occurred will not have to be
recompiled.
See https://github.com/fink/fink/wiki/Buildlocks for more information.
/sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait -r fink-buildlock-bzip2-1.0.6-1 >/dev/null

HELP!
This isn¹t my USUAL experience with Fink. Usually it¹s very simple.
Tonight, it¹s frustrating
Thanks!!
