Dr. Hansen,

Thanks. But keep in mind this is a beginner's forum. Nothing at Oracle says
JDK (or Java Development Kit). If I search on Java Development Kit I get hits,
but not from sites I know to trust. Wikipedia's description of JDK indicates 3
alternatives: Java SE, Java EE, Java ME. It recounts a history leading to a
GPL OpenJDK. Wikipedia on OpenJDK leads to 3 "projects", the most current of
which is OpenJDK 8. openjdk.java.net goes into a story of plan B, project
Lambda, project Jigsaw - I'm starting to feel I reading a cheap spy novel. Can
you please identify a link where I can safely download the software you
understand I need on Mac OS X 10.10.1?

Thanks,

Jim
