Martin, I'd like to understand this situation better. Are there specific libraries which have been updated for 4.3? Were the updates done in a properly versioned manner? If so, then packages which are compiled under 4.3 will link to the new versions, and packages compiled under 4.2 will link to the old versions. So long as we keep the different versions in separate fink packages, a smooth transition should be possible. (I'm not sure that we've done this yet, but it should be possible to repackage things with this in mind.) I don't have a good answer for the threaded issue, though. Is Matlab the only affected package?
