Hello.
Landonf, Murr, RangerRick and Pogma have helped me a great deal to get CVSup working in a Fink specific package.
I have checked CVSup into unstable just a few moments ago and I have also arranged for a test facility.
Please follow these instructions carefully and report any major or minor faults back to me.
The CVSup package consits out of:
cvsup (bundle which installs everything) cvsup-client (what you need to test cvsup server) cvsup-server (If you want to run a server) cvsup-shlibs (dynamic libs needed to run cvsup/d )
Please read the documentation provided in /sw/share/ carefully yet here is a quick guide.
Create a file called 'supfile' in /sw/etc and add the following lines: - -------begin snip---------- *default host=66.129.95.39 *default base=/tmp/test *default release=cvs tag=. *default delete use-rel-suffix stable unstable - -----------end snap ---------
Now create a directory called test in your /tmp. Then after installing cvsup-client run it like this:
cvsup -p 5998 -L2 -g -z /sw/etc/supfile
This will contact our test server (which has been supplied by a friend at focalhosting.com) and "checkout" the stable and unstable parts from fink/dists. I have mirrored the CVS repository from sf on that machine.
If you removed the 'tag=.' part from the supfile you would receive the plain RCS files. cvsup know how to handle them.
if you remove "stable" or "unstable" from the supfile only the part mentioned will be "checked" out.
The server allows 30 concurrent connections for now, so please start testing thoroughly, I would like to move cm3 and cvsup as soon as possible to stable. CVSup could be something very interesting when it comes to mirroring and I am sure that it might be something people would like to see as an alternative to selfupdate-cvs. This has to be discussed and I of course see it as something optional.
If there are further questions, please let me know
