The freetype2 package now exists only for compatibility with older Fink packages. Developers should use the freetype that is part of XFree86 for new packages.
The install script for freetype2 moves lib/libfreetype.la into a lib/freetype2/ directory, but that doesn't get installed from %i into %p so there appears to be a problem with that package. Any clarification on either point would be helpful.
