Why do I need to have *-dev/SDK if I'm going to use binary only packages? apt-get automatically installs a lot of *-dev packages, FAQ says for Apple's X11 to recognized correctly I need to have X11SDK installed - or this is different?
<AKH>You do, for the version of the fink program that comes with the 0.6.2 binary distribution (0.16.2-1). Newer versions of the fink program will generate the virtual package without the SDK.
[ FinkCommander have said that it is latest version, when I have checked for update. Or you are tlaking all the time about commandline version of fink? ]
Any way. ./fink-x11-debug script without X11SDK stopped in like 58 - "if ( ! Fink::VirtPackage::has_lib('libX11.6.dylib') )" it obviously didn't found this library. I wasn't checking this in-depth.
Instalation of X11SDK has broken X11 - libX11.6.dylib was present but it was failing to load. After reinstallation of X11 everything started working. (iow correct installation procedure - is X11SDK first, X11 afterwards.)
Thanks :-)
P.S. Gone playing FreeCiv ;-)
P.P.S. What is the difference between fink and apt-get?
