I can only assume this is a recent change, packages would be breaking left and right if things got out of order out in the field...
This change was in my r1.238->r1.239 patch to PkgVersion.pm on March 11. TTBOMK, this is the first report of a problem. But whatever, I just committed a quick'n'dirty fix...let me know if it works for you.
