It took forever to rebuild g77, but plplot now builds fine.

Would you care to explain? What did you change in g77? I don't see anything on CVS.

Another idea: We could reintroduce libcc_dynamic.a as a symlink (either in /sw/lib or in g77'a own /sw/lib/gcc/*-apple-darwin*/3.4.3 directory) to the correct /usr/lib/gcc/*-apple-darwin8/4.0.*/libgcc.a. Just as gcc_select does for gcc-3.3 and tried to do for gcc-4.0 before they broke it. Then the spec line could just use -lcc_dynamic as before.
