"The shared library won't be broken" is a good enough consequence for
me:) The different -O levels are documented in the gcc manpage if you
want technical details. msachs says "Apple usually recommends -Os and
is better than -O2 for OS X due to darwin-specific reasons", but as
always, use whatever works for a given package.
