Yes, but since then (and I believe since August) TeXLive 2008 has been released, and it seems to be more amenable to adaptation to the Fink world. I was planning on a full package with multiple components, similar to some of the prior discussions. Once I have done an initial build of the whole thing I'll have a much better idea of what packages I would propose to carve it up into (if that makes any sense).
