This is strange. On 10.6.2, I get the "sudo: unknown uid: 502" error 
with Fink's screen (both bash or tcsh as login shell). Apple's screen 
works correctly with both login shells.

To see the error, you have to start screen remotely, then quit it (C-a 
C-d), log out, then ssh in again and reconnect to the screen. Then sudo 
or chsh etc will give the error.
