And what does "when appropriate" mean?

If we really want to deprecate gettext3 at some point, I think we definitely 
should turn this into an official thing, shouldn't we? I.e. put a few sentences 
like the above on our Wiki. I.e. simply recording that statement that ideally 
all packages should be converted to gettext8 -- "where appropriate" (whatever 
that means :-).

Otherwise, I don't think it'll happen in the next couple years. For example, I 
only noticed the existence of libgettex8 by chance. So if we don't announce it 
to our package devs, they hardly will attempt to make the transition, right? :-)
