I'm no expert on the subject, but FWIU a RDBMS like MySQL is appropriate 
for data that exists within complex relationships rather than flat 
files.  Given that .info files resemble the latter, this seems like one 
of those "rare" moments when XML is actually more appropriate.  (Of 
course, speed is another point in favor of RDBMSs.)

You're right of course, but I didn't bother posting this to fink-dev 
because at this point, this thread is simply a discussion, and no longer 
a suggestion regarding the web site.
