On the contrary, Dillo does need one and if you managed to get Dillo
working then you should be able to get Mozilla working too. "Server" here
just means a program that communicates with other programs; OSX also uses
the same idea with the Aqua WindowServer which generates the interface
you're familiar with by now.

You also just answered a couple of the next questions :). We know that
you're running X and we know that you're able to launch X applications (so
the earlier comment about setting the DISPLAY variable doesn't seem to be
an issue here). Now we just have to figure out what's different about
Mozilla that keeps it from working...

It's a sidetrack, but if you're saying you're not running a window manager
you might want to reconsider that. I don't know anything about XonX (which
I think you mentioned earlier) so maybe it uses twm or something to do
this for you, but X with no window manager means, well, you can't move or
resize anything, windows pile on top of each other uselessly, etc. Royal
pain in the butt to deal with. If you have some kind of screen widgets
that can be used to move things around, then you must have a wm running.

Anyway, Mozilla-0.9.9-1 and -2, after initial hiccups, started working
fine for me & the original problem -- which was exactly what you're seeing
now (no output on normal launch, a flicker on splash screen launch) -- has
not come up again for a while now. I don't know why it stopped happening.
I'm building -3 now, but it's not going to be done tonight so I won't be
able to test it until over the weekend. I'll post to the list if it stops
working...
