Hi folks,

First off let me say that I am very new to the world of UNIX and open
source software. Because of this I have found Fink to be very useful.

Having said that I'm getting an error message when I try to use Fink to
install Abiword. If I type fink install abiword and enter my password
the install almost immediately fails with a warning about needing
libxml2-shlibs. This is not in the Fink package list; but is listed on
the site as being in current-unstable.

I *could* go to the Abiword site and download the OS X install file; but
as a learning experience I would rather find out how to resolve the
error. So, some step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

(Side question: would it be a good idea to install the GNOME packages
before installing very many apps? For instance, Gnumeric.)

TIA
--------
T. Patrick Henebry
