Aaron: I had this problem when updating 10.2.1 on my iMac. The only thing I did differently was to download the update and bring it home on a CD rather than use software updater. Once I unplugged everything but the mouse and keyboard, the computer rebooted. Then the mouse and keyboard didn't work until I unplugged them and replugged them into a different USB. I know this is totally anecdotal but if it is of any help to you or anyone, I thought I would pass it along.
