You were right on target! I had forgotten to source /sw/bin/init.csh after
updating to 10.2 (fink still sort of worked because I had manually added
/sw/bin to my path). As to the v-string thing, it's still there, but doesn't seem
to interfere with anything. The lines it refers to are always the ones like
use v5.6.0; # perl 5.6.0 or newer required
I am using perl 5.8, not the perl that comes with 10.2, though the problem
persists when I go back to the system's perl. Go figure!
Thanks a lot,
Artemio

The first line about v-string puzzles me, but after that seems to indicate your PERL5LIB is not set
correctly. PERL5LIB should contain /sw/lib/perl5
Have you run either of /sw/bin/init.csh (or /sw/bin/init.sh if your shell is bash)?

I am trying to update to fink 11.0 as per the instructions at http://fink.sourceforge.net/news/jaguar.php.
However, when I execute the command
sudo /sw/lib/fink/postinstall.pl
I get the following error message:
v-string in use/require non-portable at /sw/lib/fink/postinstall.pl line 27.

After that, I ran fink selfupdate -cvs anyway, but it seems that I still have version 10.0 of fink:

Also (and this was the main reason for updating) when I try to download the latest xfree I am told that
I am up to date:
sudo /sw/bin/fink update xfree86-base xfree86-rootless
Password:

though these are not the latest versions needed for 10.2.2. What went wrong? Any help would be much appreciated!
