I tried 'fink rebuild apt-cache' but I got: Information about 1888 packages read in 5 seconds. Failed: no matching version found for apt
apt-cache comes from the 'apt' package.
Yes, that's what I was suspecting. FinkCommander uses apt-cache to set up its initial package list. I wanted to see whether your problem has to do with FC or only with apt-cache. Seems to be the latter. And does it crash by itself, too? For example, what gives "apt-cache unmet"?Hmm. Sorry, I don't understand. Are you suggesting a CLI command? If I type that on the command line I get a seg fault.
I didn't see where apt-cache unmet was part of any output, but it looks like you're asking about dependency problems for apt-cache.No, 'unmet' was just a random option to see whether apt-cache works from the command line.
See if rebuilding the apt package makes this problem go away.
