However, as a general rule, if an application crashes for whatever reason, the responsibility lies with the authors thereof. I think you should let Apple know.
But the problem is a bit subtle. I had one more crash during a compilation in rxvt in X Window, though I'm not really sure if this is the same.
Do you have a crash log available?
Where can I look for it?
