I had thought about that; however, the FAQ and prior experience on my part would suggest that there will be questionable results with this approach. Earlier releases of fink have numerous hard coded paths to the install location. Ran into this problem recently when I had /sw on a second volume and that volume developed unrecoverable disk problems. ditto will move everything; however, executing anything becomes a matter of going through all kinds of scripts changing paths.
