OK.
I'm sorry. Well, I'm working whit Mac OS X 10.2.4 and I'm trying to plug
in an HP Laser Jet 6L printer in one of the USB ports. Every time I try to
plug the printer, the Jaguar Printer Manager complains about a "non know
printer on the USB port". I've downloaded the foomatic
(www.linuxprinting.org) drivers, but nothing changed.
Then I downloaded the CUPS software (www.cups.org). I compiled CUPS but
when I try to add the printer, CUPS ask me for the printer address (in
linux usually at /dev/usb/lp0). I search my system but I find nothig I can
call the printer addres. I'm fairly new to the Mac - Fink world, and after
a useless search on the list files I ask for your help.
There should be absolutly no reason to download and install CUPS manually. CUPS is integral part of Mac OS X, the whole printing system is based on CUPS!
Anyway, if the supplied system drivers don't work for you, then gimp-print defintly has support for the LaserJet 6L. See http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/ - there is even a page that explains how to use it on OS X.
