I run into various issues ranging from it either cant find GTK+ or Glib 2, sometimes its missing GTKSpell, etc..
Right now Ive got an older source that will actually configure, but during the Make process it stops somewhere comipiling one of the plugins or protocols. Its getting confused by Apple's dylib's and Finks installed libraries I believe.
Ive tried to get help here, the X11 list, as well as at Gaim's sourceforge site to no avail. In fact come to think of it Ive never even gotten a single helpful reply on the subject.
Ive got an actual package release that the Sourceforge kids made. Its a January CVS build but it works. If you want it I can go find the URL again and post it.
I ended up just installing Debian on my old G3 to run all the Unix apps I want since this Apple X11 thing isnt too reliable.
Oh and just to rule it out, Ive also tried it on my Powerbook, which doesnt have Apples X11 and has xfree86 4.3.. Still no go on either system..
I just dont get why the .59 series will work but not .60.. Fink seems to compile .59 okay, is there a way to make fink pull cvs source and compile it?
Anyways it appears something broke in the CVS build anyways. A big bunch of us havent been able to launch it since 03.11. Something changed in the source, and now right after it connects it shuts down. Thought it was me but check the bug reports at sourceforge hehe.

has anyone been able to successfully compile gaim from CVS? if so, would they care to enlighten us? i really like the new features in gaim .60 and would like to get it working on my fink machine.
